Some people have the spark of magic within them. Others don't. The ones who don't seem to live fulfilled lives: they remember where they're from, what they've done, who they are, what they want, where they're going. They never bargained pieces of themselves away for power and had to learn to live with what was left. They wouldn't even know where to begin with doing that. They don't see everything, everyone, that mages see; they can't, or they refuse, or if they do they don't speak of it, and they certainly don't speak to it. It must be nice, to have all of the pieces of yourself.
